Have you ever thought about transforming the game of battleships into a sex game? How would you design it so it included a variety of different foreplay activities and a sexual reward for winning? What color or flavor would you give it to make it a sexy couples game? Apparently a company decided they could make a relationship enhancement product based on the original battleship game. See their game images at: OpenMity Love Battleship – Fun & Playful Game for Lesbian Couples – Cute Game for Date Night Ideas. Let’s take a look.
Note: I discovered this product while doing keyword research to market my own erotic battleships themed game books. I will be discussing my erotic game design ideas while reviewing their product. Hopefully I can restrain my bias. Also note that I have not purchased this particular game and this review is based on their marketing material only. I am not viewing this as a competitor to my game products, but rather as an intriguing design concept.
First, from their marketing material: “The Love Battleship game is based on classic Battleship game rules, so there’s no need to sit and read long sheets of rules!” They aren’t kidding. They provide 16X sheets each with two 10×10 grids labeled 1-10 and A-J. Since you would normally need two sheets per game – one per player, that means it’s playable 8 times with their supplies.
Also, their game actually uses military ships in a sex game design: aircraft carrier, battleship, cruiser, destroyer, submarines. Seriously? Unless you have a fetish for the uniform or warfare, the “flavor” of the game is not particulary sex oriented.
Second, their foreplay element seems to be a deck of 25 Fun Cards. Since the rules are supposedly the same as the classic version, I can only assume these cards are shuffled and selected whenever a ship is sunk. Okay, but only 25 foreplay activities? That seems a little lean. Since there are so few foreplay cards, I highly doubt a foreplay activity is performed for every hit landing on a ship. A sensual kiss might be specified in the rules. Other stripping or drinking elements may also be included for sinking select classes of ship. However, I didn’t see any references to these activities.
There are also 25 activity cards. Again, I am assuming these are sex play activities to be selected and enjoyed by the winner. A few of these cards are presented in the marketing material. Even some of the comments about the product indicate it is very repetitive – fun but not particularly replayable. Also, a lot of massages – maybe too many!
Third, they feature their nice design, packaging and watercolor illustrations. Also, “Probably the only board game specially made for lesbian couples”. Apparently great as a date night game or a cute lesbian couple gift idea. “Board game” is a bit of a stretch since there is no board.
Curious, my initial impression is that they spent more time on the Amazon A+ content than they did for the game itself. Brutal assessment maybe, but check it out yourself. It definitely looks nice and professional. Maybe the pleasuring activities described in their 50 cards makes it worthwhile.
If you’ve purchased this game and want to expand the sexual ideas a bit, check out our Extra Naughty Frisky Foreplay games book with straight, gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and threesome activities each arranged in six intensity levels. Oral Sex Hunter
When I first considered designing a sex game based on battleships many years ago, I wanted to keep the primary game concept, but stay well clear of the military theme. The name Love Battleship just doesn’t do it. Even Erotic Battleships is not really appropriate for a sex game. These titles are probably useful marketing keywords though. I wanted players to hunt for sensitive areas to “hit” with pleasure. Instead of ships, I used sexy words like pussy, cock, penis, nipple, clitoris, etc. You could use a variety of clean or dirty words corresponding to the erogenous zones that you want pleasured. Then, when found, adapt the pleasuring to suit the body part targeted for stimulation.
Oral pleasuring provides the most versatile stimulation techniques for both men and women (kissed, licked, sucked, tongued, probed, etc.). My version originally started as Oral Ooh, then Oral Hot Spots and then Oral Sex Hunter. See Oral Sex Hunter A Sexy Game of Hide and Seek Erogenous Zones. We also included a version in our book Sex Games & Foreplay Ideas For Couples: Be Naughty Play Dirty Together.
For my game design, I also wanted players to stimulate each other aurally for hits and misses during the game play. Why just enjoy foreplay when a “ship” is sunk – a relatively rare event? You can add hot dirty talk by combining aural sex with oral sex to ramp up the mental foreplay. You want to keep the anticipation and sexual tension building throughout the game. For example, instead of just calling out a miss, use some creative, naughty misdirection by saying “ooh, you came so close to my hot, wet pussy”. And for a hit, “Aah, you’re hot tongue just flicked my clit.” The intensity of the naughty talk can be adjusted on the fly from sweet to nasty.
For hits, you could sensually whisper the letter and an erotic desire followed by a sensual kiss. Knowing which letter has been revealed is important. Also, when a ship has been fully discovered, you get to physically pleasure your partner on that spot in any way you desire. Of course, you’ll need to adapt the activity to the current level of undress. Note: if you’re going to get physically close during the game, make sure to flip your grid maps over.
Keeping with the theme, when you uncover or find all the erogenous zones of your lover, you’ll be hot’n ready for the sexual prize. This could be something agreed to before the game or selected randomly from a set of cards. To ensure the game is replayable and adaptable to player preferences, I wanted to have the players creatively come up with their own. Since it is an oral sex style game, the reward activity should involve the erogenous zones they used on their grid. For instance, the winner might choose to orally pleasue any or all discovered sensual zones until they completely overcome their rival. No losers in these games. Alternatively, your lover could spend a few minutes orally pleasuring any of your “unsunk” erogenous zones for at least a few minutes each. This rule provides an incentive to hide your ships well. As the game winner, you also receive oral sex to orgasm. Hopefully you’ll graciously provide your worthy opponent with a similar consolation prize – maybe by fucking them into submission.
Since foreplay games generally lead to sex play, you will want to include a stripping component into the game. You could have a player strip an item of clothing each time a “ship” is sunk. This makes sense if you’re discovering or revealing erogenous zones. However, since there are more ships than clothing (usually), a different mechanism may be better. Also, a physical stimulation reward has already been assigned for sinking a ship. Instead, include the concept of “mines” or traps. Place a specific number of triggers designated by an asterisk – say 6-10. If hit, the player calling out the target location must strip an item of clothing. Depending on how many you want to add, you could also roll a die to determine if the trigger causes a stripping event, drinking or a truth or dare activity.
If you have the Love Battleships game above, you can easily add “mines” into your game play. Our books below may come in handy.

Note: If you’re currently away from the one you love (or expect to be), the aural sex aspect of my game designs are useful. You can keep the sexual fires burning bright by playing over the phone or via a chat/video app. The hot dirty talk during the game makes it great for spicing up long-distance relationships with phone sex or cybersex. Of course, with video chat technology, you can still include stripping and even directed self pleasuring or masturbation.
Seek Hot Sex
While designing a new style of sex coupons called Naughty Tricky Treats, I purchased a word search generator tool, created some custom python code, and wrote a few lists of dirty words. I wanted a sex voucher that was a little harder to redeem than the simplistic sex coupon books currently available. Why not turn it into a sexy game? Instead of just a dirty word find, I wanted to create a sexy game for couples.
As you can imagine, a grid of dirty words and random letters just needs a coordinate system to become an Oral Sex Hunter style game. With this in mind, I created a variety of Seek Hot Sex books with hard word puzzles for adults. Each puzzle is organized in a 26×30 grid pattern with a corresponding blank grid on the back of the page. The blank grids are used for scoring hits. Each filled grid contains over 80 sex-related words randomly selected from many hundreds specially chosen. For two players, this gives you 25 bedroom battle games that are completely different each time. That’s more than three times the game play for significantly less money than the packaged game with a pretty package.
